DJ Augustin scored 11 of his 20 points in overtime last night as the Bobcats pulled off their biggest win of the season beating the defending champions at home. DJ hit a 3-pointer and two free throws during a 7-0 stretch in OT that put the Cats up 108-101 and put the the game out of reach. Raymond Felton led the Bobcats with 25 points, but it was DJ who put the icing on the cake in extra time.
“I knew Raymond was tired because he was doing so much, so I just tried to step up and help him out and help out my team,” DJ said after the game. “That’s what we all did – we tried to help out each other. We did a good job at that.”
After getting off to a historically hot start, the Celtics have struggled, losing 5 of their past 7 games. The Bobcats had played well recently against the Celtics, and knew they had to get past the Celt’s rugged play and intimidation to come out victorious.
“They come in and intimidate you and try to punk you,” DJ said. “But if you don’t back down from them, they kind of fold.”
The Bobcats will try to carry the momentum into tonight’s game where they travel to face the Cleveland Cavaliers, holders of the league’s best record.
