With just days remaining in his rookie season, D.J. Augustin has proven he belongs in the NBA.
“I’m learning every night,” Augustin said. “Every practice I’m learning new things. Every game I’m learning from some great players I’m playing against. My teammates being on the floor watching them. It’s great, I’m learning every day. It’s a lot to learn. I’ve still got a lot to work on.”
Augustin is seventh among rookies in scoring, averaging just under 12 points a game and ranks fourth in assists. Consider he’s done all this playing for Larry Brown, who is notoriously hard on rookies.
“You learn a lot everyday from him,” Augustin said. “Practice. Games. Even off the court. He’s a teacher. He’s going to teach you every minute. He’s going to be hard on you. You know he’s just trying to make you better.”
