DJ's Blog: Media Time
The day started off by flying into Orlando and meeting the producer with NBA TV, Adam Moray. He gave me instructions on what the day consists of and gave pointers and tips on what would make my job easier. He and I headed to Amway Arena for the T-Mobile Shot of A Lifetime with Dwyane Wade. This was a contest where one lucky fan was given the opportunity to play Dwyane Wade in a game of HORSE. The winner of the competition received a check for $50,000. This event allowed me to interview the lucky fan Bryan, Dwyane Wade, Charles Barkley, and Kenny Smith. Seeing Bryan win the competition was the best experience of the day for me. Adam and I were also able to get footage of the entire event.
We then prepared ourselves for the game and then Adam and I waited inside the tunnel for players as they arrived for the game. We were able to interview Dwight Howard, Daniel Gibson, LeBron James, and many others. I enjoyed interviewing all of the players. I was lucky enough to get a chance to interview the majority of both teams, before and after the game. We then watched game three of the Eastern Conference finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Orlando Magic. It was a very intense game, both teams battled for the win. The fans were extremely into the game. When the game ended, the final score was in favor of the Orlando Magic, who took the win! This was a great experience for myself because as a player I was able to play the role of the media, ultimately gaining much respect for their hard work.
