DJ spent Wednesday morning working out for the Los Angeles Clippers who hold the 7th pick in the NBA draft. DJ was joined in the workout by Nevada’s JaVale McGee, Utah State’s Jaycee Carroll, Kentucky’s Joe Crawford, France’s Alexis Ajinca and Iowa State’s Mike Taylor. The Clippers brass were excited to have DJ in and gave his workouts good reviews.
“I think he’s really quick,” Clippers Coach Mike Dunleavy said after the workout. “He shoots the ball with a high IQ, so I think he’s going to be a really good NBA player.
It’s all about quickness, right? Quickness negates size and he’s got shooting ability. He’s got an array of runners. He’s got a lot of different tools.”
DJ was happy with how he performed in his workout. “I think it went pretty well,” said DJ. “Everybody was competing, everybody played hard, I shot the ball well and I think all of us had a great workout.
DJ’s quickness and shot are tools he know will translate from college to the NBA, making him confident in his transition to the pros.
“It’s going to be tough, but I’ll just try to learn from the veteran point guards, and I have people who play in the league that I know very well that I try to learn as much as possible from,” Augustin said of making the transition from college to the NBA.
DJ’s next scheduled workout is with the New York Knicks on Friday.
