DJ's camp a big success

The sound of chatter from campers competed with the noise of bouncing basketballs echoing through Brother Martin’s main gym this week. While some kids propped themselves along the walls and bleachers, Charlotte Bobcats point guard DJ Augustin stood on the sideline, giving his attention to those playing on the court.

Providing the campers with an opportunity to play basketball, have fun and meet new people is what Augustin hoped to accomplish during the second annual DJ Augustin Basketball Camp.

One hundred campers attended this week to develop and enhance basketball skills, and work with a professional athlete. The campers, males ages 8 to 15, were placed into Crusaders, Longhorns and Bobcats groups — each team name commemorating the schools and…

The DJ Augustin Basketball Camp provides the foundation for boys ages 8-15 to develop and improve their basketball skills. Boys of all ability levels are welcome, and the camp will offer a positive, encouraging teaching environment to learn and have fun. The camp will provide the tools to become a better player and help stimulate enthusiasm for the game. Magic send Bobcats home for the summer

The Orlando Magic again showed their depth and versatility.
Vince Carter scored 21 points while Jameer Nelson added 18 including a key basket late in the game to pick up a 99-90 win Monday. With the win, Orlando becomes the only team in the 2010 playoffs to earn a first-round sweep while the Bobcats failed to pick up a victory in the franchise’s first-ever playoff appearance.

Augustin helps Bobcats outlast Pistons

D.J. Augustin sank the go-ahead fade-away jumper in the final two minutes, and Charlotte continued its push for a higher playoff seed with a 99-95 win over Detroit.

The playoff-bound Bobcats can finish no worse than seventh in the Eastern Conference and no better than sixth.
